Baldachino and Dome of the Val-de-Grace, Paris
Beaux Arts Atelier 2nd year studio design esquisse, red chalk and sepia ink/wash. Objective: to create parti designs for a new manor house and garden in the manner of Edwin Lutyens for a site in Forest Hills Gardens, NY. Selected precedents include Lutyens’ Hampstead Garden Suburbs, Homewood, and Benno Janssens “La Tourelle”.
A theoretical esign for a church within an assigned space along a typical NYC brownstone block on the upper west side, across from central park. A S. Maria della Pace inspired Beaux Arts style church facade, dedicated to St. John the Beloved Apostle (whose statue, along with St. John the Baptist, comprise the niche statuary on the lower register). Part of an office holiday gift collage. Dec. 2011.
